The rule were a team can pick up another player from another team who is not in the same league or pick up a non rostered player to get to 9 is being abused. Teams who are short players pick up to get to 10, they do not ask the opposing manager, teams even bench their rostered players to pick up non rostered players. What I was attempting to do was to avoid forfeits. This rule was being grossly abused. Starting Fall 2008 If you have a player playing that is not on your roster you lose that game. The other team does not have to notify the umpires or me, although it would help. You may find out after the game is over that your game was a forfeit because of a non rostered player. Sometimes the umpires do not see me to tell me what happened until the next day or so. You (the manager) know when you are using non rostered players so don't get upset when you get caught. If you do not have enough players your team can still play the game. You can use as many players as you want and pick up from any team you want but the umpires are not required to umpire this forfeited game. Your team will lose it's forfeit fee if this happens. When playing a game with non rostered players you must finish that game at least 5 minutes before the next scheduled game. Men can play with 8 players with 1 out in the line up. Coed can play with 4 and 4 with 1 out in the line up. I hope this fixes the problem. There will be roster checks by me or my staff after the 4th week so have your drivers license at the game or you may not get to play.
